Thornton is reopening in the morning and we will have our ice at our normal time: 11-Noon and Noon-1PM.
Please register if you want to skate tomorrow. If you were previously registered for ice tomorrow, you will need to please register again.
Please also see the note below from Alexandra Nichols, the Shaker Heights Director of Recreation:
“Today we were informed that a youth hockey coach tested positive for Covid-19 and that participants were exposed to the virus. Following consultation with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the families on the impacted teams are being notified by email and phone calls. Players will be asked to quarantine until October 23. All teams who were not affected by the exposure can practice and play games as planned. Thornton Park Ice Rink will remain closed to all user groups while additional deep cleaning takes place. It will reopen for those user groups at 10:30 am Saturday, October 10.
There were no direct exposures to non-youth hockey groups due to the strict safety and sanitization protocols in place at Thornton Park Ice Rink which include 30 minutes between every user group to allow for sanitizing of high touch surfaces and a full cleaning every day between 10 am and 2 pm.
