Learn About CSC Theatre on Ice on 9/23

August 25, 2017
Hello Clubs, coaches, and skaters,
Though I’m relatively new to Theatre on Ice, I’m so excited and have immediately fallen in love with this amazing discipline. As the new CSC Theatre on Ice Head Coach and along with Assistant Coach Frank Singley, we want to invite you to be a part of our exciting new season.
I traveled to Theatre on Ice Nationals last year and was captivated by the atmosphere—it was undoubtedly the most fun I’ve had in figure skating in years! Skaters from around the country had fun dancing in the stands, bonding with their teams, and of course put out sensational skating programs. I was especially blown away by the performance put on by the Cleveland Skating Club team—seeing all the CSC skaters come together as a single unit, getting into their characters and performing from the heart was something that will stick with me forever. Led by Louise Rossbach and again assisted by Frank, the team put out two phenomenal skates and won their first national medal, earning Silver in the Intermediate division. It gave me goosebumps which later turned into tears of joy as I watched the skaters have their medals placed around their necks—and this was to me as a spectator!
What I saw at TOI Nationals was a celebration of the sport of figure skating and a shared appreciation for the creativity displayed by all the teams. Our CSC skaters and all the other teams we met were supportive of each other, extending compliments and praise, proving to me that this discipline is everything that is right about our sport. Watching skaters get fully into character and cherish their roles as actors and entertainers proved to me that there is a real application in the skills skaters learn from TOI—it helps skaters from all disciplines further develop their performance skills and find a new community of support and camaraderie within our sport.
I was a single skater my entire career and was fortunate to win national titles at 4 levels through hard work, dedication, and passion. The road was tough and while I loved it, I only wish there was an opportunity for me to express my true creative talents and to celebrate my love of the sport with others in a team environment. I would have jumped at the opportunity to do TOI! I’m excited to take the reins here at CSC and lead this team back to Nationals to defend their title in 2018!
I hope you consider giving TOI a try here at CSC. Please join us at the Cleveland Skating Club on Saturday, September 23rd from 2:15-4:15pm to experience what TOI is all about!
The Cleveland Momentum is Building….and we want to have you be part of it!
