Ice Times (and Procedures)- They Are a Changin’

Come gather ’round, skaters…

I hope this finds everyone well (and yes I am listening to the famous Bob Dylan song as I write this email). We have a few important updates tonight- there will be another email on ice payments coming shortly.

But first, we want you to know that we have worked with the city to eliminate the need for the 15-minute breaks between sessions. This will allow skaters skating on multiple consecutive sessions to not need to get off the ice and wait in between.

Because of this, there are some changes to our schedule and our procedures.

The changes to our schedule, starting this Monday, 9/28 are:

  • The Monday evening session originally from 6:30-7:30PM will now be from 6:15-7:15PM.
  • The Wednesday evening session originally from 5:45-6:45PM will now be from 5:30-6:30PM.
  • Fire and Ice clinic on Wednesday evening will now be from 6:30-7:00PM (it was originally 6:45-7:15PM).
  • The Saturday session originally at 11:45AM-12:45PM will now be from 12:00-1:00PM.

Ice+ has been updated to reflect the new session times. Although the times have been changed, I left the sign ups intact for all of those sessions. If you need to change, you can go into Ice+ and cancel for make up time, or I can help with alternative arrangements.

The changes to our procedures relate to minimizing contact between skaters as one group is entering the ice while the other is departing.

Please see below for an example for this coming Monday:

Monday

5:05 – 5:15: Check-in for session #1

-Skaters on session #1 select a chair inside the rink on the left (west) side, then filling into the middle if necessary

-5:15: Skaters enter the ice through the lobby end, right-side (east) door -6:05 – 6:15: Check-in for session #2

-Skaters on session #2 select a chair inside the rink on the right (east) side, then filling into the lobby and community room if necessary

-6:15: Skaters enter the ice through the lobby end, right-side (east) door

-6:15: Session #1 skaters must exit the ice from the coach’s box, gather their belongings and exit the building within 10 minutes of the session ending

-7:15: Session #2 skaters must exit the ice from the coach’s box, gather their belongings and exit the building within 10 minutes of the session ending

* Please note, all current SFSC & City of Shaker Heights Guidelines will still be enforced. Please see shakerfsc.org for details.

Thanks and happy skating!
